Stay
The two cottages at the Kanasar Ecolodge are built in the modern adaptation of the traditional “kath-khuni” construction method, using stone and mud masonry with Deodar timber lacing and Chir Pine paneling inside. This makes them seismic safe also warm and comfortable inside. The Deodar roof has metal sheets to protect it from the elements.
Planned to accommodate a couple on a romantic getaway, a cozy family holiday or a lively get together of friends, the two cottages are cosy yet spacious, with a living lounge at the entry level and a modern well fitted toilet. The lounge also has a fireplace to keep warm and reminiscent of a colonial influence. A covered deck that cantilevers into the valley below is the best element of the cottage. Gaze into the mountains beyond, watching the sun trace its path across the sky as you sip a cup of hot tea or read that book that you never get a chance to. Play i-spy with your kids watching the birds and butterflies around, all huddled on the deck.
The mezzanine level has two sleeping areas, a desk to pen your thoughts and seating to hang-out in. The big picture windows frame the forest around consuming you completely, yet keeping you warm under the thick “razais” (blankets)
We can also arrange camping at Kanasar for groups of 20 to 30 people. We have ten tents which are suitable for a group of trekkers, schoolchildren or anyone looking to rough it out and enjoy the mountains.
We serve simple home cooked food, low on spice and oil. A typical meal would consist of home grown rajma and rice with greens, chapatis and chutney, will leave you coming back for more. If you are a non-vegetarian, our meat dishes are flavourful and exotic, and quite different from what you may have had before.
